On 15 September 2026, GRAIL took part in the periodic online meeting of the Big Data Value Association (BDVA) Smart Manufacturing Industry group, where the project was presented alongside its sister initiative euroFMX.
During the session, Simona Neri, coordinator of the GRAIL Project from Eurecat, introduced GRAIL’s vision and main objectives to the BDVA smart manufacturing community. The presentation highlighted the project’s ambition to advance trustworthy, sovereign and general-purpose generative AI for robotics, with a strong focus on data efficiency, transferability, explainability and safety by design.
The meeting was also particularly valuable because euroFMX, GRAIL’s sister project, was presented during the same session. Bringing both initiatives into the same discussion created an opportunity to identify shared interests, exchange perspectives and explore potential areas for future collaboration.
These connections can help strengthen synergies between European projects working on AI, robotics, data and smart manufacturing, while avoiding duplication and increasing opportunities for knowledge exchange, joint dissemination and ecosystem building.
Participation in the BDVA Smart Manufacturing Industry group therefore represents an important opportunity for GRAIL to connect with a wider European community and to identify new possibilities for collaboration with euroFMX and other related initiatives working towards the next generation of AI-enabled manufacturing.
GRAIL is bringing together Generative AI, Robotics and Society through a framework built around interconnected technological pillars, ranging from foundation and world models to planning, control, human-centric adaptation, safety and cybersecurity. The project will validate its developments across different industrial environments through five industry-led use cases, more than 10 robot embodiments, four Testing Hubs and three Open Calls.
